Statement
I have shown in art galleries professionally for 31 years and made my living from art the entire time. I am beyond grateful to have found my true passion and career in the same line of work. Thank you to so many art collectors, galleries, family and friends who have helped me along the way.
Biography
Christopher Mathie is a dynamic painter known for his emotional abstractions and expressive coastal landscapes using a language of symbolic forms. He draws on personal interests in psychology, philosophy and metaphysics, as well as observations of the natural world. He has exhibited his work professionally for 31 years, and his paintings are included in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally. He has taught art privately (pottery and painting) and worked with many fine art galleries as well as the high end interior design world. Mathie was nominated for the 2016 James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award, given by Fry Art Museum / Artist Trust Consortium. He also currently works with the Museum of Northwest Art Store in La Conner, WA.
